PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS. (August 19, 2025) – A log truck driver was killed on the morning of August 15 when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree on Highway 43.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 43. Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene.
Officials say a 1994 GMC log truck driven by 65-year-old Billy Jefferson of Kokomo was traveling south when it ran off the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree.
Jefferson received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
