EDWARDS, MS. (July 16, 2025) – An 18-wheeler crashed into a bridge pillar on Interstate 20 West on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred near the 19-mile marker in Hinds County. Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The semi-truck struck a bridge pillar, causing significant damage to both the vehicle and the State Route 22 overpass. The driver was transported to a local hospital via medical helicopter.
Both westbound lanes of I-20 and the overpass were shut down for hours following the crash. As of Thursday morning, I-20 has reopened, but the SR 22 bridge remains closed to traffic pending damage assessment and repairs.
