DESOTO COUNTY, MS (March 6, 2025) – A DeSoto County deputy was injured after a wrong-way driver crashed into him on March 4.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the driver was driving south in the northbound lane of Interstate 269 at a high rate of speed when the vehicle struck the deputy’s SUV, which was driving north at the time of the crash.
The DeSoto County sheriff said the deputy had positioned himself on the shoulder of the interstate and then pulled into the path of the wrong-way driver to force the crash, stopping the threat to the public.
First responders rushed the deputy to the hospital. He has since been released and is recovering at home.
The wrong-way driver was charged with felony fleeing a law enforcement officer.
