Important news from the FDA that has linked deaths of patients infused with the blood thinner drug called Heparin and a material contaminant found in some certain lots produced by Baxter International.
It is believed that between Jan.1 to March 31 there was a unusually large increase in the number of deaths as a result of an allergic reaction to the medication.
Without a doubt, the FDA has concluded that they have found the link between the Heparin drug contamination and several of allergic reactions resulting in death.
Baxter recalled its heparin products in February due to the unusual spikes in the number of the allergic reactions. Some federal health officials and Baxter believe the oversulfated chondroitin sulfate was intentionally put into the product from suppliers in China.
According to the FDA, there were more than 90 reported deaths and over 1,000 adverse reactions associated to the Heparin products, including those sold by Baxter since Jan. 1, 2007.
China officials are blaming other suppliers for the possible contamination.
